Introduction
Grindrod Terminals Richards Bay, A Division of Grindrod South Africa (Pty) Ltd is currently recruiting for a Line Manager - Electrical within our Maintenance Department on a 12 months fixed-term contract basis.
Job description

  • Responsible for ensuring that plant in area of responsibility specifically, and other areas generally is in safe working condition
  • Ensures all scheduled maintenance (electrical) is carried out as planned through maintenance teams
  • Ensures all breakdowns and repairs are addressed effectively (Right first time)
  • Ensure effective communicating and reporting with all relevant personnel regarding condition and status of the plant
  • Sign off time sheets of both internal and external (outsourced) employees
  • Submit training requirements to the HR department and follow up
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports indicating maintenance and plant performance
  • Ensures compliance with all SHERQ activities in the section [safety, health, environment, risk and quality]
  • Maintains hygiene and housekeeping requirements within the department
  • Ensures evacuation routes and access to emergency equipment is not obstructed, and safety equipment is in good working order
  • Ensures adherence to and maintenance of SHERQ policies and procedures
  • Ensures SOPs are in place for all regular tasks
  • Ensures all incidents , hazardous conditions and emergencies are reported immediately
  • Ensures work is allocated to staff and that it is executed correctly and safely
  • Supervise and manages staff to obtain efficient and cost effective production levels
  • Conduct quarterly performance appraisals
  • Reviews and follows-up on subordinate's general performance
  • Adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act no.85 of 1993
  • Adherence to Labour Laws and any other relevant legislation

Minimum requirements

This position requires specific technical knowledge, general management knowledge and knowledge of how to coach and motivate people. This is usually developed over a period of around 10 years and prospective incumbents must have a track record of successfully managing a technical team.

Minimum qualifications and experience
  • Matric
  • Nationa Diploma/BTech with minimum 6 years electrical experience as technician or engineer at MV Plant
  • 3 - 5 years of managing a team of electricians with strong training and development content
  • Previous exposure to supervisory duties
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and SAP PM
  • Driver's license code 08
