Introduction
United Container Depots is looking to secure the permanent services of a Terminal Manager; the successful candidate will join their depot in Cape Town. All suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for this vacancy.
Job description

  • Ensuring that the terminal is operating efficiently, achieving monthly budget and operational KPIs
  • Management of terminal operations, workshop, reefer and warehouse.
  • Maintaining and managing customer relationships and key stakeholders. 
  • Managing manpower, costs, ensuring equipment maintenance is of acceptable work standards.
  • Managing and supporting SHEQ initiatives and objectives. 
  • Managing all activities within the operations process, including the workforce. 
  • Inventory control, managing stock levels and procurement of materials (selecting, ordering, and purchasing materials). 
  • Managing work in progress (WIP) turnaround and limits. 
  • Maintaining skills matrix for operational employees indicating skill requirements and certification. 
  • Investigating root cause of operational inefficiencies, quality deviations and the implementation of corrective action.  
  • Maintaining necessary record and documentation as required, fulfil all reporting requirements. 
  • Working closely with Finance to ensure effective debtors, creditors, and budget management. 
  • Conducting regular housekeeping inspections to ensure a high level of neatness, cleanliness and tidiness is maintained. 
  • Managing pricing and costing in the repair and maintenance area. 
  • Managing the handling of equipment, vehicles, and assets of the Terminal. 
  • Managing fuel usage and supply. 
  • Manage and provide for a secure and safe working environment. 

Minimum requirements

Qualification/s:
  • A business management degree/diploma from a tertiary institution.
Experience
  • A minimum of six years related experience.
  • Knowledge of business management systems.
                                                                        
 
Required skills:
  • Ability to collect, analyze and use relevant information.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Understanding of Labor law and HR/IR Procedures.
