Introduction
United Container Depots is looking to secure the permanent services of the Stores Controller. The successful incumbent must be able to effectively manage the stores office by ensuring that the required stock levels are maintained, and that service delivery is timeous and efficient.
Job description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:
• Ordering replacement stock when minimum stock or safety levels have been reached
• Obtaining competitive / negotiated pricing before placing orders
• Securing two/three approved suppliers
• Capturing all stock items and rental equipment on system
• Recording the movement of stock, in and out
• Ensing that rentals are correctly managed
• Identifying opportunities for 3rd party sales
• Ensuring that stock and materials are safely stacked and housed
• Ensuring that housekeeping is maintained at a high standard
• Issuing spares as per job card
• Preparing stock reports, as and when required
• Ensuring that spares and labour for repairs are captured into system upon completion of a job card
• Collecting job numbers for all stock issued
• Keeping a gas register for all refrigerant issued for repairs (weight measurement)
• Returning unused stock or offcuts to stock
• Performing stock count, as and when required
• Compliance with company policies, procedures, SOP’s, discipline and attendance
• Compliance with safety rules and standards, including correct and consistent use of PPE
• Perform other duties as instructed within your scope of work, including assisting with ad hoc tasks and work overflow

Minimum requirements
Qualification/s:
• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
Experience:
• 5 years’ experience in running or working in a store’s environment.
Required skills:
The following experience is preferable:
• Checking and testing of small tools for compliance to safety standards.
• Negotiating with service providers / suppliers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimum supervision.
