With a strong reputation in the maritime sector, we are looking for a highly skilled Bookkeeper to join our team and ensure the smooth financial operations of our business. About the Role: As Senior Bookkeeper, you will play a key role in managing the company’s day-to-day financial activities and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting and reporting standards. You will work closely with management, operations and external stakeholders to provide accurate financial insights and support decision-making in a dynamic shipping and logistics environment.
Job description

The successful applicant must reside in Australia. Reporting directly to CEO, the responsibilities of the successful applicant will include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Key Responsibilities

·                  Responsible for capturing monthly journals

·                  Ensure all accounts receivable, payable and cash book entries have been recorded for the month

·                  Preparation and lodgement of BAS, PAYG and superannuation

·                  Liaise with service provider on weekly/monthly payroll and superannuation processing and recording it in the general ledger

·                  Monthly general ledger reconciliations

·                  Month-end and year-end reporting support, including liaising with external accountants/auditors

·                  Maintain Fixed Asset Registers

·                  Management of cash flow and monitoring of operational expenditure

·                  Support management with financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting

·                  Ensure compliance with ATO requirements and company policies

·                  Maintain accurate records and implement process improvements where needed

Minimum requirements

Experience and skills

·                  Minimum 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping

·                  Solid understanding of GST, BAS, and Australian tax obligations

·                  High attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills

·                  Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment

·                  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·                  A formal certification (i.e. Bachelor's/Certificate or similar) in Accounting/Bookkeeping
