An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Operations Officer to join our dynamic SGM team in Fremantle, Australia.
Job description

Reporting directly to the National Operations Manager (based in Sydney), the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth turnaround of vessels and coordinating all operational requirements. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

·        Manage customs, port and immigration formalities on behalf of vessels

·        Liaise with principals and suppliers to provide timely updates on vessel progress

·        Coordinate required services and logistics for vessel operations

·        Prepare estimated disbursement accounts and finalise them post-departure

·        Oversee general ship husbandry, including provisioning, crew transport and accommodation

·        Monitor and report on cargo operations to ensure efficiency

·        Follow up on supplier and service provider invoices

·        Attend port meetings and maintain accurate port lists

·        Update and maintain AOS with timely and accurate information

·        Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and systems

·        Support additional tasks, overflow work, and relief operations in other ports as needed

Minimum requirements

We invite applications from candidates who meet the following minimum criteria:

 

Qualifications and Experience:

·        Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar operational role

·        Relevant maritime training or industry-related qualifications

·        Experience with various vessel types (e.g. Tankers, Dry Bulk, Crew/Passenger vessels) - specifically grain vessels

·        Strong understanding of customs, port and immigration protocols

·        Familiarity with general ship husbandry practices

 

Required skills:

·        Excellent coordination, organisational and communication skills

·        Customer-focused with the ability to anticipate and meet client needs

·        High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

·        Adherence to standard operating procedures

·        Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends

·        Proficient in computer systems and adaptable to new technologies

·        Team player with a proactive attitude

·        Valid manual driver’s license is essential
