Leads and oversees the HR function across Southern and East African countries based on the business growth strategy (Currently - South Africa, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania and Uganda).
Job description
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:
HR Business Strategy
- Develop and ensure that the HR strategy and solutions comply with the overall Grindrod strategy. Identify key issues and apply experience to drive solutions, recognize trends, and identify systematic approaches to solve problems in a high-performance environment.
HR Business Partnering
- Takes on the client focus approach and builds relationships and working with diverse stakeholders, including cross-functional internal partners, effectively.
Employee Relations
- Provide overall specialised knowledge and guidance in terms of country specific legislation, collective agreement interpretation and administration. Including disciplinary matters, grievances and dispute matters, collective bargaining research, preparation, and negotiations.
Talent Management
- Talent Development; Succession Planning; Personal Development Plans; Resourcing and Planning; Recruitment and Selection; Onboarding.
Performance Management
- Oversee performance management systems and employee development programs to enhance workforce capabilities and resolve complex workplace issues.
Reward Management
- Manage the Salary Review Process and support Line Managers with the salary review process guidelines. Manage and overseas multi country payrolls.
People Management
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages employee engagement and promotes diversity, equity and inclusion. Identify developmental requirements and coach and mentor team members.
Compliance and Reporting
- Overall responsibility of ensuring that the relevant information for the Workplace Skills Plan, Annual Training Report, Audit, Employment Equity BBBEE, COID reporting requirements are met ahead of the deadlines for the various submissions.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications
- B-Degree (Human Resources related)
Experience
- Must have 5-10 years experience in leading the HR Agenda for large business with deep and broad Human Resources experience in Southern and East Africa
Essential
- Knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act, Skills Development Act, BBBEE Act. People Strategy Development; Stakeholder Management; Commercial Awareness and business acumen; analytical skills, people management, networking, entrepreneurial.
- Willing and able to travel extensively.
- Sound broad HR generalist experience including payroll management.
