Junior Transport Controller
Position summary
Introduction
Job description
The successful applicant will be responsible for overall performance of the transport operation execution but not limited to:
Planning & Execution of Plan:
- Planning of the daily loads from the various mines in co-ordination with the Customers plan and product availability.
- Balancing of transport allocations to ensure margins are maximised. Lowest cost allocated first.
- Liaise with the customer for additional loading points when required.
Reporting
- Ensuring that the daily load tracker is up to date for invoicing daily.
- Daily report preparation for the Transport Controller’s review.
Transport Operations
- Monitoring of loading against the daily plan
- Deviation management.
- System Updates
- Liaising with Customs team on clearing
Transport Administration
- Collecting POD & Other relevant documents.
- Filing (Paper & Electronic).
- Data validation & Correctness
- Resolving queries and communicating with Customer.
- Adhoc duties related to the scope of the position
Daily Activities
- Communication to clients and contractors
- Provide support to the transport controllers with their daily activities.
- Deviation Management.
- Reporting on daily load performance.
Minimum requirements
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:
Finance & Operational Functions
- Weekly Supplier Invoicing according to SLA.
- Weekly Customers Invoicing according to the SLAs.
- Weekly Closing off Disbursements account.
- Weekly and Monthly Invoicing and Reports per Client.
- Ensure Correct Rates are being charged to GLA by the suppliers.
- Ensure that correct rates are charged to customers and that all loads are invoiced and recovered for.
- Disbursements accounts must be resolved within a month of receipt from Accounts Dept.
Supplier Communication
- Acknowledge, attend, and resolve all Suppliers Payments and Invoicing Queries
- Communicate with Commercial and Transport Managers for any supplier rates issues.
- Weekly Supplier invoice payment schedules and Load Trackers.
Customer Communication
- Acknowledge, attend, and resolve all Customer Payments and Invoicing Queries.
- Communicate with Commercial and Transport Managers for any customer rates issues.
- Weekly Supplier invoice payment schedules and Load Trackers
Daily Activities
- Communication to clients and contractors
- Provide support to the Admin Team Leader & controllers with their daily activities.
- Management of customer expectations.
