Introduction
A Disbursement Controller position has become available at Sturrock Grindrod Maritime (Pty) Ltd for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Operational Finance team. The candidate will be based in Durban. All suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for this vacancy.
Job description

Reporting to the Disbursement Supervisor, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepare and submit Final DA’s to Principals within 10 days of vessel ETD.
  • Ensure Agency Fees and recoverable invoices are included in the FDA.
  • Follow up on outstanding invoices from supplier in order to complete FDA and reduce supplementaries.
  • Maintain clear creditor outstanding listing.
  • Prepare monthly vessel reconciliations and follow up queries with operations department.
  • Ensure all collectable funds are invoiced and recovered from the Principal.
  • Ensure compliance to Principal’s reporting requirements.
  • Resolve any Principal’s queries concerning disbursements.
  • Ensure pre-funding is allocated to AOS file.
  • Ensure bank charges are recovered.
  • Meet Principal’s requirements promptly and accurately.
  • Provide Principals with a high level of customer service and support.
  • Maintain cordial relationships with Principals.
  • Use of appropriate communication etiquette.
  • Partake in departmental ad hoc special assignments or tasks.
  • Obtain relevant desired results for any ad hoc projects having prioritised it with other regular activities.
  • Be available to assist with additional tasks or work overflow.

Minimum requirements

Qualification:

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Preferably studying towards an Accounting qualification 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Financial Accounting knowledge
  • Knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications

  • Strong numeric ability and problem identification and analysis
