Introduction
Grindrod Logistics Africa is looking to secure the permanent services of a Cargo Inspector to join their Mhlumeni office. All suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for this vacancy.
Job description
• Correct document packs and batching of ASYCUDA & SAD500's
• Verify export/ Import documentation prior to sending to the HUB
• Ensure that the correct information, value as per the invoice is used on instruction to Operations
• Communicate with internal and external customers and service providers
• Liaise with customs, entry clerks and controllers
• Ensure no penalties are issued due to items that could have been avoided
• Ensure the trucks are available for inspections
• Ensure relevant parties are informed of customs manual stops
• Keep the office updated of any delays at customs
• Follow up and present stopped vehicles to customs
• Advise drivers once files are released
• Release drivers with correct documents and prepare copies for the office
• Update daily and monthly registers and report to Manager on any missing documents
• Unpack and offload vehicles during inspections

Minimum requirements
- Senior Certificate/Matic
- Must be Computer Literate
- Must be familiar with MS Office – Specifically Outlook and Excel
- 1-year Customs related qualification at NQF level 3 will be advantageous
- Any additional Tertiary qualification will be advantageous
- Experience in customs framing entry capacity will be advantageous (including cross border, bonded cargo clearances)
