Boarding Officer (Tanzania)

Reporting to the Operations Manager (Tanzania), the successful applicant will be expected to execute the following responsibilities:
· Boarding vessels which are located at the base on the port
· Pick up port authority personnel and take them to the to the ship for inward clearance
· Pick up sick crew and take them to hospital, if required
· Deliver ship spares onboard vessel
· Attend daily meetings for all vessels which are in berth to see if the Master requires any assistance
· Send daily discharge/loading report to principal/owner and receivers
· Attend daily operations planning meeting
· Resolve issues/problems with the vessels or if operation does not go according to plan
· Follow up with the Port Revenue department for outward clearances and outstanding invoices
· Submit hard copies of documents to authorities e.g. manifests
· Arrange with port authority personnel for outward clearance
Minimum requirements
We invite applications from candidates who meet the following minimum criteria:
Qualification & Experience:
· Diploma / Certificate in Shipping / Port Operations from a certified institution
· Knowledge of port tariffs and Tanzania Port Regulations
· 2-3 years of practical experience in a port environment
Required skills:
· Ability to identify and execute on the needs and requirements of the client
· Sound knowledge of the port
· Strong organisational skills
· Able to work accurately and timeously and meet deadlines
· Works according to standard operating procedures
· Willingness to work long and irregular hours
· Strong communication skills
· Computer literacy – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (emails)
· Proficiency in English language (write and speak)
