The successful applicant will be responsible for the following:
Duties and responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and tests on job items and materials according to predefined criteria (ISO 9001).
- Ensure all quality processes are followed in accordance with the ISO 9001 system and retain records
- Identify quality defects and implement corrective actions in collaboration with operation teams.
- Perform in-process checks to ensure compliance with quality standards during different stages of repairs.
- Ensure compliance with Marine Classification Standards, South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) / South African National Standards (SANS) and any applicable legislation.
- Maintain proper documentation and records in line with regulatory requirements.
- Develop Quality Control Processes (QCP’s) and documents to monitor job cards from a quality perspective.
- Take measurements to ensure components have been repaired in accordance with drawings.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to quality, collaborating with internal teams to provide effective solutions.
- Implement preventative measures to avoid recurrence of issues.
- Consult with clients and follow Quality Control processes as required.
- Develop and maintain data packs for each job and complete sign off holding points as required.
- Arrange Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) as required at various points throughout the task.
- Review Welding Procedures to ensure scope compliance.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications, experience, and knowledge/skills required.
Qualifications:
- National Diploma or Degree in Total Quality Management, Engineering, or a related Field.
- ISO 9001 Implementation, Internal Auditor or Lead auditor.
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent thereof required.
Experience:
· 2 – 4 years of experience in quality control or assurance in a mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or service environment.
Knowledge and skills:
· Familiarity with South African industry standards (e.g., SABS/SANS) and ISO certifications (ISO 9001).
· Strong understanding of quality control techniques, statistical analysis, and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficient in using Microsoft Office and computer literacy.
· Meticulous with strong analytical and organizational skills.
· High level of integrity and commitment to quality.
· Strong teamwork and people skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
