National Operations Manager (Sydney, Australia)

The successful applicant must reside in Australia or have previous in-country work experience.
Reporting directly to CEO, the responsibilities of the successful applicant will include, but are not limited to the following:
· Lead operations across all ports, driving performance, efficiency and consistency
· Manage and align daily activities of teams and sub-agents, ensuring operational targets and compliance obligations are achieved
· Oversee vessel scheduling, operational planning and reporting on KPIs and any operational reporting requirements
· Champion safety and compliance, embedding a culture of accountability and adherence to regulatory and SHERQ requirements
· Maintain and enforce Quality Assurance procedures as part of daily operations and implementing or updating SOPs
· Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, port authorities and service providers
· Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring exceptional service and support - including domestic and overseas travel to engage existing clients and develop new business opportunities
· Lead and develop employees, fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration across the business / regions
· Inspire and grow your team, building capability, succession and high morale
· Drive adoption of company systems to ensure data accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement
Minimum requirements
Qualifications:
- A Business Degree or similar
Experience and Skills:
- 7 years in shipping, logistics, port services or a related field with 2 years in leadership or management (advantageous)
- Collaborative leader with strong communication, networking, and coaching ability
- Confidence to engage with stakeholders, customers and authorities
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational and administrative skills
- Strong business, financial and process acumen with a focus on results
- Customer-focused, taking ownership and delivering under pressure
- Willingness to travel regularly across the region and be hands-on when needed
