Introduction
Grindrod Logistics Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking to secure the permanent services of a Junior Customs Entry Operator to join the Durban office. All suitably qualified, currently employed candidates are invited to apply for this vacancy. The successful candidate will be required to work shifts including alternate weekends.
Job description

Reporting directly to the C&F Supervisor, the responsibilities of the successful applicant will include, but are not limited to the following:
Key Performance Area:
  • Processing of Customs Clearances (Road / Rail, Imports / Exports / RIB / RIT)
  • Processing of Ex-bond Entries (XDP / XIB / XE)
  • Keep Principals updated daily and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Liaise with all Service Providers, Principals and Transporters on an ongoing basis.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System and Standard Operating Procedures

Minimum requirements

Qualifications:

  • Matric
  • Minimum 1-year Customs related qualification at NQF level 3
  • Any additional Tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
  • Computer Literacy
  • MS Office – Specifically Outlook, Excel, Word & Teams

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years imports / customs experience in the Clearing and Forwarding Industry of which at least 1 year in Customs framing capacity (including cross-border, bonded cargo clerarances)

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Shows initiative.
  • Knowledge of INCO Terms
  • Basic International Trade Principles
  • International currencies and Country Codes
  • Ability to frame Customs Import and Export documents onCompuclearing Shipshape
  • Practical Experience of Cross Border Customs Clearance processes a prerequisite
