Introduction
Hesper Engineering, a division of SGM Technical, is looking to secure the permanent services of a Storeman to join our team in Cape Town. All suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for this vacancy.
Job description

The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Ordering, monitoring and control of stock, materials and consumables, as well as obtaining and negotiating competitive pricing before placing orders
• Allocation of the above and responsible for ensuring the return and upkeep of stock
• Capturing of stock items, company and rental equipment/tools on the company’s system and implementing / following procedures, ensuring all information needed is correctly captured
• Storage of stock materials in a safe and efficient manner
• Housekeeping of stock and stockroom at the highest standard
• Managing weigh bulk materials and returning unused stock or offcuts
• Responsible for issuing of stock, company and rental equipment and tools as per job card numbers
• Fully responsible for ensuring safe condition of rental equipment and small tools on return and before issuing, rectifying faults as required
• Ensuring oil levels are correct and gauges working on equipment/tools and that all equipment/tools has calibration certificates, where required
• Stocktake at a minimum of 4 times per annum and ensuring correctly captured on company system
• Control and co-ordinate activities to minimise overtime or wastage
• Compliance with OHS Act and Regulations and ISO procedures

Minimum requirements

Qualifications, experience and competencies required:

• Matric
• Minimum of 5 - 8 years’ experience in a similar role
• Strong attention to detail and working in an organised manner
• Good computer literacy and numeracy skills and knowledge of programs such as MS Office and Excel
• Able to implement and sustain procedures
• Good communication skills
• Ability to problem solve
• Able to physically lift and move heavy objects as required
• Available to work overtime as and when required.
• Reporting to financial manager
